My Ident

Before creating my ident i did some research into how to do certain effects on after effects so i could create my ident the best i could. I then did two first rough ideas (shown below in the first video). I didnt know which one i preferred first so i decided to put two in one video as a comparison. I liked the first one because of the shape of the box but i wasn't a fan of the test placement and another disadvantage of that version was that there wasn't a easy or attractive way to fit the word productions into the box. The second one was better because it fit in the whole of my company name rather than missing out a word. I liked how in both the text faded in, i had difficulties when trying to make the text and box fade out at the end of the clip as After Effects wouldn't allow me to add two fades for one object which was disappointing because i couldn't find a way around this.

In the second video there is only one ident idea and it is my final ident but it is missing any sound. i had decided to go for this style as it would fit all my company name in it which looks a lot better and also the text fills the whole box rather than there big empty space like in the other idea. While creating my ident i also got the idea of as the sun is setting i would wait until it is completely gone then fade the clip out to black but leave the box and my company name still there. I tried this out and i was very happy with the outcome. Below is my final ident without sound.

All i had to do to complete my ident was to add some sound to make it more interesting. I didnt want any fast paced music or high intensity sounds as i believed it wouldn't fit well with what i had, instead i decided i wanted some slowish electronic music, what i have put on i feel works really well and i am happy with how my final ident has turned down. I also experimented with some different font types but didnt like the look of many others.

My Ident Idea

For my opening movie scene each member needs to have their own personal ident. We have to create this ident on our own from our own ideas. My ident idea is to have a timelapse of a sunset going down in the background and as this is happening a self drawing box will appear, once the box is completely drawn text will fade onto the screen, the text will be placed in the box and will read 'Alex Hey Productions'. Unlike some members of my group my company name cant be linked very well to any specific subject and doesn't have much relevance to anything so i have thought about aesthetics and how my ident can be visually nice. I also want to expand my knowledge using Adobe After Effects because this software interests me a lot, that is why i have introduced the self drawing box idea because this is something which can be done on After Effects. I know that i have a timelapse of a sunset that i have taken before so that isn't a problem while constructing my ident.

Feedback from Exam

I recently attempted an essay, this is the feedback that i got from it.
There is quite a bit to be improved, The main thing that i need to focus on is the use of examples. If i use examples effectively is worth 40% of the marks for the question. What they are looking for is specifics i.e. for a particular film, how was digital marketing used to promote it and what effect did this have on the success of the film. Because i have access to the internet it would have been fairly straight forward to access this information. I have made some relevant points about the means of digital distribution but i need more examples.

Rough Cut 4 with titles

In this new rough cut there are two main differences and that is that we have added our first attempt at our title sequence and also this clip is colour balanced. I am happy with how our first rough title sequence has turned out, there are many improvements that can be made but so far it is good.
